Amirault

Also written: Tourangeau, Amireau, Mirault, Miraux

Family Crest François Amirault, sometimes called "Tourangeau" was born in Tours, France, in 1664. At nineteen (1683) he married Marie Pitre and ten children were born to the couple. Certain traces show that he was probably in Cobequid (present-day Truro, Nova Scotia) in the year 1725.

Joseph Amirault (1689), son of François Mirault dit Tourangeau, his wife and nine children were deported to Connecticut. After 1763 some of his children settled in Quebec. Joseph Amirault's nephews and nieces returned to the Pubnico area of Nova Scotia after being exiled to Massachusetts.
