Family Crest Roger Kuessy, born in 1651, was a ploughman and a refugee from Ireland who, in 1668 married Marie Françoise Poirier at Port Royal. He is credited with being the first one to introduce fruit trees to the region which would explain why he settled the fertile area around Beauséjour (today's Butte à Roger in New Brunswick). The Kuessys had 9 children.

Certain members of the third generation settled in Quebec or New Brunswick. Others were deported to Pennsylvania and still others migrated either to Louisiana or to France.
