Cyr

Also written: Sire, Cire, Cyre

Family Crest Pierre Sire was a 24 year old gunsmith when he settled in Beaubassin (Acadia) in 1668. Two years later he married Marie Bourgeois and the couple had three children.

At the time of deportation in 1755 a third generation Cyr named Jean-(Baptiste) took refuge with his family along the St-Jean river only to be later taken prisoner. His cousins, Jean and Paul Cyr were deported to Massachusetts.
