Daigle

Also written: D'Aigre, d'Aigre, Daigre, Desgre.

Family Crest Oliver D'Aigre, a 28 year old ploughman was registered at Port Royal in the 1671 census. This name has its origins in the town of Aigre (Charente). Certain members of this lineage in the Beaubassin area changed the name to Daigle around 1727.

However, Jean Charles Daigre arrived at Belle Ile en Mer in 1765, via Falmouth England and Morlaix France. Marguerite Daigle (widow of a certain Mr. Legueule) arrived at Champflore (Martinique) with her 7 children in January 1766.
