Dupuis

Family Crest The name Michel Dupeut also known as Dupuis (born 1634) appears in the 1671 census of Port Royal. He was a ploughman originally from La Chaussée (Vienne). He and his wife Marie Gauterot had 5 children besides the one she had from a previous marriage.

Charles Olivier Dupuis (3rd generation) and his family of 10 children were deported to Connecticut in 1755. His brother Joseph's (deceased in 1750) family was deported to South Carolina. A third brother, Pierre and his family, were sent to Massachusetts; some of his children then go to Louisiana while others settled in New Brunswick.
