Michel Poirié was registered at Port Royal in 1671. According to Geneviève Massignon this family came to Acadia from Martaizé (France) in 1634 at the earliest. In 1765, at Belle-Île-en-Mer we find Joseph Poirier, 45 years old from Beaubassin, as well as his wife Ursule Renaud and their 5 children of which 4 were born after the deportation.
